Bullet Journaling

My walking buddy and I are embarking on a new journey.  We have both read the book or are reading The Bullet Journal Method: Track the Past, Order the Present and Design the Future by Ryder Carroll.  It's about creating your own daily, weekly or monthly planner and/or journal.  Much more is included than creating your own way to organize and prioritize what you are doing or plan to do.

What I learned through reading and watching others on YouTube talk about how they Bullet Journal is that you can and should design your own system that works for you and it can and will change over time depending on your focus.

Carroll writes that it is about:

     Organization
     Soul searching
     and Dream Weaving

He starts off in the book asking you to look at how you are currently using your time with an exercise that looks something like this:

How are you currently using your time?
How should you be using your time?
How do you want to be using your time?

The whole point of designing your own system is so you can keep track of what you plan to do and what you really are doing. You are also asked to reflect on and journal what you have learned and/or are learning about how you spend your time and move more to the things that are important to you  You are encouraged to migrate things off your "To Do" list that no longer support what you want or as I say that no longer bring you "JOY".

He also called Bullet Journaling the KonMari system for your life.  Several of us spent last year following Marie Condo and her KonMari method of going through everything in your home.  It certainly did open up some interesting new things for most of us and we got rid of a lot of old things as well.

Check out The Bullet Journal Method by reading the book going to Ryder's web site or just looking at some YouTube videos.  You might find some new tools that will help you focus on what is important to you and let go of the many things that no longer serve you.

Share with us the name's of any books you have read during quarantine that you found interesting or useful.

Abundant blessings, joy and health.

Chance or Change

For me and I am sure many of us we have deescalated our lives in the midst of all of the changes and the pandemic all around us.  I know I have stopped writing as frequently as I was and even stopped walking as much as I had been.  I have allowed myself to find solace and sanctuary in my time apart and let go of much of the busyness of my life.

Today I read a post about The Gift of the Global Plague from Lynne McTaggart, who has written several books.  As I have said before, I believe there is more good that can come out of this pandemic than we can even imagine.  Lynne starts off her post with the following.

"At the moment, all of us are left with the terrifying sense that we are experiencing the most dangerous enemy we’ll ever know: invisible, all-pervasive, unpredictable and unvanquishable."

Our fear of the unknown often leads us to fear the worst or to come up with one or more conspiracy theories.    As she says,  "And this crisis will end - as every other pandemic before has."

I will not quote the whole article but link it here for you to read and ponder.  It will definitely give you something to reflect on as you find new ways to spend your time.

The Gift of a Global Plague

Her closing gives us something to think about as well...

"This crisis and the resulting pause in our lives is giving us an unprecedented opportunity. We have the time and space to begin to create some new rules to live by, another way to “be.

Don’t squander this gift. Use this hiatus to dream, dream big and start to act."
May you and yours be healthy and well in all ways.
Abundant Blessings.
